The First of 3 Family Quinceaneras

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is having a great summer, I'm writing to you today about my niece Mimi's Quinceañera . Woot! Woot! My niece turned 15 in May but due to the church and the venue the celebration was held on June 20th. I'm going to share with you some of the questions I asked her and what she responded as well as her surprise dance!

Me:
1.Did your quinceañera turn out as you thought it would?
2. What was your favorite part of the quinceañera ?
3. What was the most stressful part of the quinceañera ?
4. Let's talk about the gifts lol what were the best gifts you got and what were the worst?
5. What was the most memorable part of the night
6. For the church service what was the best what was the worst? What would you do differently for the church ceremony of your quinceañera ?
7. Also what would you have done differently about the party
8. Let's talk about your quinceañera practices what did you like and what did you not like?
9. What was the hardest part about having quinceañera ?

Mimi's Responses:
1.) Actually, my quinceañera turned out better than I expected.
2.) Hmm.. My favorite part of my quince was either the "regalo sopresa" which was when both Maria and Mario came out to dance Or when the Banda came in playing cause I had no clue what so ever that I was getting a banda.

3.)Stressful part about the whole quinceañera planning was probably getting everything done at the very last minute.
4.) The gifts were pretty interesting to see lol um the best gift was either the flowery backpack or the red big "bitch bag". The worst gift were the leggings and a nail polish that used to be shown on TV. I also got a plastic cup and sandwich box food thing but it wasn't a bad gift.. I just found it pretty funny cause no one would really expect getting something like that as a quince present haha.
6.) For the church service everything was okay.
7.) Although my court and I didn't get to rehearse for the actual day, everything went pretty well. I don't know if anything could have been changed.
8.) Any changes to the party.. I don't know if any changes should have been made at all just because I thought everything went pretty well. Although organizing a little more could have helped that night.
9.) The hardest part of quince practice was probably getting my court to focus from time to time. One of the scariest parts for me about quince practice was probably doing the lift. I was afraid I would slip or something.

Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster Review

Image result for walking disaster

I was walking around Walmart when I found Beautiful Disaster. What caught my attention was the cover and the description of the book. Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. She also has a past she doesn't ever want to talk about or go back to. When she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One Night Stand, Travis Maddox. He is dripping sex appeal and temptation, he's lean, cut, and covered in tattoos. What else could you possibly ask for? Travis comes from a all boy family. As a child he lost his mother, which probably has something to do with the whole Walking One Night Stand status he has. Travis spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days on campus. He is deeply intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, so much that he's willing to risk his current lifestyle. Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, both are in for a tug of war of the heart. I had never heard of the author, Jaime McGuire but I'm glad I found her book. Her first pages drew me in, I'll be honest here Travis is a alpha male character but he does however have his soft side. It all comes with the territory of his past, the same goes for Abby (except she's not an alpha male lol). Niether one of them has had a fairytale childhood and you see it in both books Beautiful Disaster is the book based on Abby's POV, and it serves as the backbone of the series. Then in Walking Disaster you get Travis' POV, which definetly adds more to it and it becomes a window into his soul, because you get to read his thoughts and feelings. I would recommend these books if you're looking for something new to read that has a bit of edge to it along with romance and some catchy names for the main characters!

"If A Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever." A very well learned lesson in Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster.

Held Against You Review

Okay everyone sorry for the delay in the blog posting that was finishing up finals and all but awful end of school year stuff. Anyways I'm here writing today because I read another book by Season Vining. What got my attention about this book was the author because I've read one of her books before and I loved it so I figured I would love this book. Season Vining just has this vibe in her books that makes the story so captivating. This book is a stand alone novel and is 276 pages long in paperback. Held Against You is a dual POV tale  in which more than one person has a secret. This book has its main characters Kat is girl on the run from a crime she committed and the sexy bounty hunter that's chasing after her ;). Kat has chosen a path far away from her problems, she flees after making bail. Running away from her life and everything she knew, including herself. But after her encounter with the sexy bounty hunter that has found her and is determined to bring her back to his employer she is skeptical about what her fate will be. Especially when she finds that she is just as attracted to the sexy bounty hunter as he is attracted to her. This story really becomes a cat and mouse game in more ways than one. Held Against You is definitely a book to read. I've got to give Season Vining props for this romantic, suspenseful young adult book. I love her work and she still keeps me guessing right until the end. I love how she is able to write about her and damaged people and how they pull through through some crazy experience that bonds them together. I also enjoy how she is able to incorporate humor action and romance into her books this one had quite a bit of action I can't really give out anymore because I really want people to read her book.

"I don't know why there's a bounty on her head and I don't care. It's not part of my job to care. My job is to find her and bring her in." - The sexy bounty hunter.

"As for this bounty hunter, I'm not sure what to make of him. He's immune to my weepy crying girl act, so I'd say he probably tortured small animals have a child. With his stunning good looks, he's a far cry from Dog, the Bounty Hunter. I'm thankful for that, because who wants to spend days in a car with all that hair and pleather?"-Kat

"Kat's fingers claw at my back as she pulls in tighter, muffling her sobs against my chest. It's overwhelming, the feeling of her body pressed against mine, along with the smell of her hair and the push and pull of her breath. I'm not sure of what I'm doing."-The sexy bounty hunter.

You Know You're Practicing For A Quince If

You know you're practicing for a Quince if.......
  1. You have to wear a big poofy princess dress.
  2. You have a tiara and eventually a crown on your head.
  3. You have a septer.
  4. You're planning a big surprise dance to wow your guests and family members.
  5. You have a crap ton of family coming from all over,  even the family you didn't know you had.
  6. Your parents are working harder to get more money for preparations related to the celebration.
  7. You're trying to do anything to make the house look nicer.
  8. You're trying to find people to be a part of your court.
  9. You have to go ask random friends of your parents to be padrinos or madrinas.
  10. You have to go to a church retreat.
  11. You have to go to church more than you used to until the time of your Quince.
  12. You're practicing in your driveway for your Quince.
This just like my family. When they go all out for a Quince they invite half of the town and then some. :P

Alesana and all the other bands that played Friday night!

Sorry for not posting as soon as I wanted to, I was busy writing up a case study for my class...I finally got sick of it and had to take a break. Last night's show was AMAZING! All the bands that attended did a outstanding job, especially the bands I didn't really know much about. They were good and then some. Let's see the first band that played last night was Funeral Portrait. These guys are from the great state of Georgia, specifically Atlanta. These big boys were the first ones to be welcomed onto the stage and they did not disappoint. Their album "FOR THE DEARLY DEPARTED" is available now so be sure to look for it. And the GIRLS from Conquer Divide posted second,  these girls are beautiful, confident and know how to work a stage! They showed the same amount of passion for their work as any of their male counter parts that played throughout the night. They also were very friendly. I gotta hand it to them, they showed no fear in playing in a all male line up. They showed so much energy up on that stage. They are for sure a band to check out. The third band to play Friday night was the Browning. They were one of the best bands of the night. They were full of energy, which made their performance amazing! The vocalist had screams that sounded nice and full, reaching high screams and low screams perfectly. Their electronic sounds made people dance and bounce, giving the show that night club vibe. The guitar players did crazy guitar tricks like flips and spins. They made the lineup look more badass and rocked hard! They made the audience very energetic with lots of dancing and headbanging. The fourth band to play was Capture The Crown also had an amazing performance with lots of energy. They did very well with getting the audience involved. Jeffrey, the vocalist, made the best of the show by allowing crowd surfing. He also stage dived with an inflatable boat, managing to be taken/crowdsurfing almost everywhere in the audience. He also stage dived from the speakers which were around ten feet tall! Those were some of the things that helped make the night memorable.

Here is some pictures from that night. We went up stairs to the VIP section and happened to look out the window and saw ALESANA! Hanging out in the back of the building and taking pictures with fans that some how figured out how to find them.

You might wonder what does Alesana do before they go on stage besides practice? Well I got it on camera. Theylike to play frisbee and some other game that involves trash cans.

I give you the girls from Conquer Divide!

This is what the stage looked like from above in the VIP section. It was a great view, I would've stayed up here but I enjoy being up front in the crowd too much.

Dennis kept jumping into the crowd, we caught him on our side here.

My goodies

I bought the CD which is on sale today! It was early release for anyone at the show, seriously check it out. If you loved the Emptiness or A Place Where the Sun is Silent, the you will love Confessions. I caught the guitar pick from Shane :D and got hit in the head with a water bottle that Dennis threw into the crowd. Lol it was an amazing night!
