Hey everyone long time no see. Recently my niece Guadalupe, Lupita for short and less of a mouth full to say just had her Quinceañera. Her dress was an interesting color similar to my other niece Ariana's but more minty green. It varied in color depending on the light. Same with her converse that I blinged out for her they were the exact color of the dress and also looked different in different light. Lupita's Quinceañera was actually took place on the 2nd of July her actual birthday is in December. She didn't really have padrinos for anything her parents went out and pretty much did it on their own, not many parents do for this kind of event. So it took a lot of saving and hard work. She had no Damas only Chambelánes.
Lupita in her dress for the first time.
The Converse I blinged out for her. I did this too for Ariana.
Sooo sparkley!
Her Copas Stand.
The tables with the fancy napkin job we did last minute lol. Also there are swans on the tables that my sister -in-laws did by crochet in addition to the Copas we decorated for the tables and the bamboo centerpieces we also arranged.
Lupita on the day of. I arranged balloons at her table with her name. :D Made it extra nice that day.
Good morning readers, or good afternoon today I got some sweet news. Something nice and totally unexpected happened to my Erika. She is a hair stylist and she deals with different sorts of people on a daily basis. So that is nothing new for her, what was new for her is that today she had a client who was blind. A blind little boy. She was nerve wrecked she was nervous on how to do this to begin with and even more so because the boys mother said that he was difficult because he's not good with hair cuts. How Erika handled it made me proud of her. She told this little boy what she was going to do and that she could finish the hair cut quicker if that made him feel better. During the process of the hair cut she talked to him, asked him questions, told him how brave he was and how well he was doing. Which in reality he was doing excellent. It went so well that he said he wanted to return and have her do his hair cuts any time he needed a hair cut. The mom was shocked by how well everything went and by how well he was taken to Erika. Needless to say this made her day and hearing about it made mine as well. It's the little things of reassurance and making someone comfortable that made this possible.
Happy summer everyone, the weather has been gorgeous and finally warming up and less rainy in my neck of the woods. I hope everyone is enjoying the weather and their days if you're out of school or on your day off of work. Go out and enjoy the day. I have a graduation I'm attending Saturday and this girl Alma, she's like my niece. Her mother was raised with my sisters, so she's like an extra sister. Therefore Alma is family. I love her since the day she was born. She recently asked me how can she deal with college? She is ambitious she's going off to be a pediatrician and she's starting that journey this fall but graduating first from high school this Saturday. So I went to my favorite book list on amazon. I read too much and write too much as well but most of all I love sharing my favorite books with others and if they help then so be it. For her I ordered
Adulting: How to Become a Grown-up in 468 Easy(ish) Steps by Kelly Williams Brown. She has advice for the readers. Somethings are simple that you can think of yourself and then again there are so many other helpful things in her book that I wouldn't have thought to mention to Alma. The second book I ordered her was The Girl's Guide: Getting the hang of your whole complicated, unpredictable, impossibly amazing life by Melissa Kirsch. Also a good book. Anyways so I'm going to put together this cute little box of things for her and a card. A card I've been writing and rewriting because each time I read it, it just doesn't seem to capture everything I want to say to her. Has anyone else had this problem? I have until Saturday morning to get it right so wish me luck.
On another page I'd like to shout out to a new author. She just debuted her novel on Amazon. Two stories, one about werewolves and one about vampires. I like to support new authors as well as well known ones. If you get a chance check the novels out. They're cheap on Amazon Kindle. I've found lots of great authors on Amazon Kindle.
Helloooo everyone, I'm back again. Been busy with figuring out if I'm graduating and guess what? I am, so I've been running around figuring out what to do with the day of graduation. Yikes! I found my dress for the ceremony and now that my degree is wrapped up I have to figure out what to do with myself. I've been working and will continue to work as well as now do a part time job in my field. The upside to all the tedious little school things being done is that I can now focus a more on my blogging and in general writing. Woot! Woot!
In the previous two Quinceaneras I made the girls a gift. For Janet I made a life size version of her childhood bunny and for Ariana I made her some blinged out converse. For my niece Lupita I'm going to make her both. Blinged out converse and a stuffed Pikachu... random but that's her favorite plush animal. Sooooo I'm going to make one from scratch
I'll be updating my progress over the next few weeks. The quinceanera is in July so I will be updating as it gets closer to then. :)
Also as a graduation gift my boyfriend got me tickets to see Pierce The Veil! :D I cannot describe how surprised and how excited I am for this. I'll be blogging about that concert soon too when it happens :D.
Hey everyone that reads this blog, guess what??? There is going to be
another Quinceanera coming up soon. I have yet another niece that will
be celebrating her 15th birthday with the dancing, the dress, and the
people in July. So keep an eye out for that next blog in July about her
party.
These are some of the salt shakers decorated as flowers that my sisters-in-law made for Janet and Mimi's Quinceanera. This time around for my niece Lupita they will be making swans. Which I have never seen crochet...but then again my sisters-in-law are really into that.
Pink one from Mimi's Quinceanera
The swan for Lupita's Quinceanera table decorations.
On our trips to go dress hunting I came across these random statues for Quinceaneras that I found at guess where? A dollar store, which is odd but they're actually a really nice quality of Quinceanera figurines.
Also here are some cute dresses we saw while out and about looking for the dress.
So this is the last quinceanera that my family celebrated right before the end of the new year. This was my niece Ariana's Quinceanera. I had a little bit of an extra touch in this one because I made some sparkly converse for her to wear when she was dancing Buy a cover them with Swarovski crystals which made him really sparkly. I also made little candy bags that were placed at each table. I did have a recording of her surprise dance but unfortunately it got deleted Before I could get my hands on it so I don't have a suprise dance but I do have Some of the dance thing that happened. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the videos. Like always I had my set of questions about the experience for Ariana.
Me: Did your quinceanera turn out as well as you thought it would?
Her: Yes the party turn out as well as I thought.
Me: What was
your favorite part about the Quinceanera? What was the most stressful
part of it?
Her: My
favorite part of the party would have to be the dancing party. The most
stressful would have to be the surprise dance
Me: Let's talk about gifts for the best gift you got and the
worst gift you got?
Her: Worst gift would have
to be a this purse that wasn't exactly pretty to me. And the best gift
would have be this cute karate bear or money I kept finding in the birthday cards :).
Me:What was the most memorable part of your party
night?
The most memorable part of the night would be the dancing. I got to dance with my best friends, especially the one that was moving soon. It was great being able to dance with my friends and my family (my cousins, aunts and uncles)
Me: For the church service what was the best and what was the worst?
Her: It was tooo long. LOL like all church stuff the service is long. I also had some trouble reading the rite of passage speech in spanish. My spanish isn't perfect.
Me: What would you have done differently for the church ceremony of your
quinceanera?
Her: There's nothing I would've changed for the church ceremony part of my quinceanera.
Me: What would you have done differently about the party?
Her: I wouldn't change anything about the party. It was good just the way it was.
Me: Let's talk about keeping your practice is what did you like and what did
you not like? Also what was the hardest part about having a
quinceanera?
Her: The practice was fun and I enjoy spending time with my friends and
cousins but I didn't like that the boys always went away when practice
wasn't even over. The hardest part would be making sure everything was
okay and ready about it on the day of the quince.
Her on the day of the practice pictures.
The venue was gorgeous. It was so neat and elegant, a bit of a way out of town but it was a beautiful spot for a celebration like a wedding or quinceanera.
Hey everyone sorry its been awhile I've been busy with school and all
the craziness of my life. This blog post is about my niece Janet's quinceañera . As you can see from your pictures and video her dress was blue. Her special day was fun, and it took a lot of planning. To start off the surprise dance that
the boys did with Janet was kinda hard for them to learn especially when all the boys have never really danced or moved their hips. It took a LOT of LONG practices over the summer. While she was busy with that her girl cousins and I all decided hey let's do a surprise dance for her, we can totally do this in a week...yeah not the best idea we ever had. We were trying to learn it within a week and not tell her. Unfortunately she caught us in the act by snapchat and selfies her cousins were taking and forgot that she was in the snapchat group convo. She busted us when she got a hint through snapchat then called her two sisters who were at practice. It ended up working out because then we had
her involved and in the surprise dance.
This is Janet and her surprise gift. I hand made a life size version of a little bunny she used to carry around when she was a little girl. Everyone loved the bunny and even took it out dancing.
The first video is Janet's surprise dance with her boys and the second one is Janet and the girls. Sorry for the quality of this video due to the song and the Warner producers having problems on Youtube I couldn't get this full video on there but here it is the girls surprise dance for Janet's Quinceañera.
